(L&R) "Mr. Montgomery Goes Hunting" (Lamp #7). A few years ago I participated in a show with two other artist's, Gregory Page and Alan Montgomery. Both are great Artists whose work has inspired me. In the show that I am referring to, Alan displayed some "light Boxes" that he made using medical X-rays. |

I thought they were pretty cool and I've always kept the idea tucked in the back of my mind that I might want to try something similar. When, a couple of years ago, I had some dental work done I asked my dentist if I could have the x-rays that they took when they were done with them. He said that they keep their x-rays on file forever but would I like it if they made a copy?Naturally I accepted and combined it with some wood, deer bones and lamp hardware. |

(left) Eddie Stickman was made while I was Art Dept. shop student-supervisor at the College of St. Benedict. He is made from foam rubber, wood, screws, nails, string, and a hat and tie. (right) "Leg" really should go in a separate "ironwork" page but I'll wait until I have enough to make one. |

This is made from welded iron using both an oxy/acetylene torch and a wire-feed welder. Hopefully it will be part of a much larger sculpture someday |

(L & R) "Four Faces" This is made from welded Iron and Ash wood. This is another one that will someday be part of a much larger sculpture if all goes well. |

I am considering the weather vane possibilities as I work on this one.. |

(L & R) "American Fetish #1" was started in 1988 and not finished until 1997. I used old, rusty square nails that I have been picking up in my garden for the last 35 years. The Maple was from a tree which grew in my parent's back yard and the Axe is an old one that has been laying around for years. The slate base came from Joe O'Connell. |

The title refers to African fetishes, wood idols that have had iron driven into them. I think of this as a very violent piece, therefore it is also a reference to all the violence that we see in the media, we seem to worship it. |
