Dave Cofell's First Page!!!

A short introduction to my website

Welcome!
I’m immensely pleased that you have visited my website, come on in and take a look.

I’ve been goaded into doing this; I have tired of people (you know who you are) asking me “So, Dave, when are you going to have a website?”

So the friends want a website, the friends get a website.

I don't usually like to go on and on about myself, I'll let the Art and Music speak for me and I'll let you be the judge. I will tell you that some of the things you'll see here are not finished, my apologies.

These pages, like so much of my Artwork, are not "finished", I plan to update and change them. So if you don't like my color choices (some of them ARE pretty funky) check back to see what happens.

It has actually been rather fun figuring out on my own what works and what doesn’t. I’ve been trying for years to learn a language other than English with mixed results. HTML seems to be a language that I can make some sense of and, maybe because I have been using it every day for a while now, I’m getting better at it. But I am by no means what I would call good at it, I'm a dabbler who often gets it wrong. But I can sometimes figure out why it's doing what it's doing.

There are a few routes you can take through this website. One is to follow a path from page to page until you get to the gallery. Another is to click on the buttons at the top of the page for a limited amount of navigation or the “Contents” link there and at the bottom of each page which will take you to a page that has a link to just about every other page at this website. Use whatever route you like and good luck!

Having looked around the web at other people's sites it seems to me that mine is rather sparsely ornamented. I think the usual tendency is to try to do everything when one makes one's first website, I know it has been mine. It has been a real struggle to get this thing down to a manageable size, it was much larger than it is in its present form. I will be adding to this site over time but tell me if it gets to be too much, or if it already is.

There's a page here somewhere about me so I’m going to leave off now and let you get on with your visit. I hope you like my website and that those of you who have been pestering me to do this will move on to a different subject. This is another fine mess you've gotten me into!

AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I swore I would never have a website,
the ludditte in me speaking for the rest of the committee.

Yet here I am...
???????????

THE FEATHERLESS CHICKEN!!!!!!!!

At times I feel like this picture looks, and sometimes I even look like this picture looks. This is a real chicken, alive and well and walking about with no feathers!!! Who knows, with genetic splicing, loss of the ozone layer and all the great chemicals in the environment, people may soon come with feathers!!!

Ain't this a great age to be alive in???
It sure beats the alternative!

ABOUT THE MUSIC

As you move through this site you should be hearing a different piece of music for almost every page. The gallery pages have on and off switches for the music so you may choose to view them in silence if you wish. If the music ends and you want to hear it again merely click your "refresh" button. I will try to remember to put a short note at the bottom of each page with the title and any thoughts about the music on that page. The piece you should be hearing right now is called "Seco", so-called because it was the second piece I wrote after I started using some music notation software that I got from a friend. Each progressive edit had a shorter name; it went from "Dave's second piece" to "Seco" over the course of a few days.
Unless otherwise noted all the music at this website is by me.
